…request an Interlibrary Loan?
If there is a book you need that is not available at the CRC, you may request an Interlibrary Loan. The librarians can search the collections of other libraries nationwide for the title, and if a holding library is willing to share it, the book will be loaned to you for a period of time approved by that library. Two to three weeks is typical. It will take time to locate the book and have it mailed to the CRC, so this may not be an option if you have strict time constraints.

…use the databases and research effectively?
While most databases operate in similar ways, each individual database is unique and has certain special features. From evaluating and choosing a database, to formulating a strong search, and then effectively narrowing your results, using a database requires a general knowledge of best practices and an awareness of quirks particular to that source. Help navigating these can come from working directly with a librarian (either in person, over the phone, or online) or by using the online tutorials and guides provided throughout the CRC website.
…find help after-hours?

These include video tutorials (e.g. 90-Second CRC Briefings), printable guides, insightful “tips and tricks,” and links to outside websites chosen specifically for their excellent explanations.
