Part 1: Setting Up the Quiz Shell
1. Turn Edit mode on.
2. In your desired section, click + Add an activity or resource.
3. Select Quiz.
4. Enter a Name and (optional) Description.
5. Under Timing, enable Open the quiz and Close the quiz dates if desired.
6. Set a Time limit and Attempts allowed as needed.
7. Under Layout, select New page for every question (recommended for saving progress).
8. Configure Review options to control when students can see feedback or correct answers.
9. Click Save and display.
Part 2: Adding Questions
1. After saving, click Edit quiz.
2. Adjust the Maximum grade if needed.
3. Click Add, then choose one of the following:
○ a new question (create from scratch)
○ from question bank (reuse existing questions)
○ a random question (pull randomly from a category)
4. Enter a unique Question name (for reports) and the Question text.
5. Add answer choices, select the correct answer, and include optional feedback.
6. When finished, return to your course page — the quiz is live immediately.
Tips and Notes
● Question Bank: Store and organize reusable questions, similar to Blackboard’s “Pools.”
● Review Options: To protect quiz integrity, avoid showing correct answers until after the quiz closes.
● Feedback: You can add overall quiz feedback based on score ranges or specific answer feedback within questions.
● Saving Progress: New page per question reduces risk of losing responses due to timeouts or connection issues.
● Help Icons: Use the “?” icons beside Moodle settings for definitions and explanations.
